About ToolXkit

I'm a developer, and I built ToolXkit because I kept running into the same problem. I needed to compress a PDF or convert a file, and every "free" site had a catch. Some wanted me to sign up. Some put a watermark on the result. Some let me do two files a day. Almost all of them wanted me to upload my file to a server I knew nothing about.

So I made the site I wanted to use: free for everyone, no signup, and your files stay on your own device. It has grown to 1,595+ tools for PDF, Word, Excel, images, audio, video and code.

ToolXkit is not a big team. It is built and run by one person, under WebWonder Wizard, a small company in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. When you report a bug, the person who reads it is the person who fixes it.

Why your files are never uploaded

Most online converters work like this: your file travels to a company's server, gets changed there, and comes back. If that file is a contract, a salary slip or a medical report, you have just handed it to a stranger. Many people aren't even allowed to do that. Lawyers, accountants and HR staff are often told never to upload client documents to outside websites.

The tools here run inside your browser instead, using standard web technology: the File API to open the file on your device and WebAssembly for the heavy work. The file is opened, changed and saved on your own computer or phone. Nothing is sent, so there is nothing you have to trust me with.

You can check this yourself. Open any tool, switch off your internet, and it keeps working.

How it stays free

There are ads on the page, and that's the whole business model. No premium plan, no subscription, no credits, and nothing locked behind a payment screen.

It works because nothing runs on a server. My costs are almost the same whether one person or a million people use the site, so I never need to charge you. Even the AI tools run on your device, so they don't cost anything per use.

What I will not do

  • Ask for an account, an email address or a password.
  • Put a watermark on anything you download.
  • Set a daily limit. The only size limit is your own device's memory.
  • Sell your data. I never receive any.

Honest limits

A browser can't do everything a server can. Some conversions, especially PDF to Word, Word to PDF and anything with PowerPoint, need layout analysis that isn't fully possible on your device. Those tools work, but the result is close rather than perfect, and they are marked Approximate wherever they appear. I'd rather tell you that up front than promise "100% accurate" and let you down.

Very large files depend on your device's memory. A few hundred megabytes is fine on most computers. A file of several gigabytes may not be.
