Asian adults carry more health risk at a lower BMI, so the lines sit lower.
You are in the healthy range for your height. BMI Prime is 0.99 (your BMI divided by 23, the top of the healthy range).
BMI takes no account of muscle, bone or where weight sits, so a very fit person can read as overweight on it. It is a rough screening number for adults, not a diagnosis, and it does not apply to children or pregnancy.
How to Use the BMI Calculator Online
BMI divides weight by height squared, and its limitation is built into that: it knows nothing about muscle, bone or where fat sits. A trained athlete and a sedentary person of the same height and weight get the same number. It is a population screening measure, useful for spotting a trend across thousands of people and weak for one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about this tool.
Is BMI accurate for me?
It is a rough screening figure, not a diagnosis. Muscle weighs more than fat, so athletes read as overweight; it also does not know where the weight sits, and abdominal fat carries more risk than the same weight elsewhere. Different thresholds are used for South Asian populations, where health risk begins at a lower BMI.
What should I use instead?
Waist-to-height ratio tracks health risk better for most people and needs only a tape measure — keeping your waist under half your height is the usual rule of thumb. BMI is useful for spotting a trend in yourself over time, which is what it was designed for.
How accurate is BMI Calculator?
It uses the standard formula for the calculation, so the maths is exact for the numbers you enter. For loans, tax and investments, treat the answer as a close estimate and confirm the final figure with your bank or adviser.
Does BMI Calculator save the numbers I enter?
No. Your figures are worked out in the browser and are not sent to any server or stored in an account. Salary, loan and health details stay on your device.
Are the income tax calculators up to date?
They are built on the slabs published by the Income Tax Department for the year shown on each page. Rules change with each Budget, so confirm the figures on the official portal before you file.
Can I rely on these calculators for health decisions?
They are good for a quick check, such as BMI or daily calories. They are not a medical diagnosis, so talk to a doctor before changing medicine, diet or treatment based on a result.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Every calculator runs in the browser on your phone or computer, with no download and no sign-up. Bookmark the page if you use it often.
