How to Convert a Unix Timestamp to a Date
Databases, API responses and server logs often store time as a single large number such as 1767225600. It is precise for computers and meaningless to people. Paste that number here and you get the date and time in UTC, the ISO 8601 form, a long written form, the day of the week and the ISO week number.
Ten digits or fewer are read as seconds; longer numbers are treated as milliseconds, which is what JavaScript and many APIs use. Clear the box and pick a date instead, and the page gives you the timestamp for midnight UTC on that day.

Steps to Read a Unix Timestamp
-
1. Paste the timestamp
Enter the number in the Unix timestamp box. Both 10-digit seconds and 13-digit milliseconds work without changing any setting.
-
2. Read the date
The main card shows the moment in UTC. Rows below give ISO 8601, the long form, seconds, milliseconds, weekday, day of the year and ISO week.
-
3. Go from date to timestamp
Empty the timestamp box and choose a day in the date picker. The page then shows Unix seconds, milliseconds and ISO 8601 for that date.
What Is a Unix Timestamp?
A Unix timestamp counts the seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970, a moment known as the Unix epoch. It ignores time zones, so the same number means the same instant everywhere. For example, 1767225600 is 1 January 2026 at midnight UTC, which is 5:30 am in India. Systems that store the count in a signed 32-bit number will run out at 2147483647, on 19 January 2038.
Why Use Date and Time Calculators?
Counting days on a calendar, adding working days to a deadline or converting IST to a client’s time zone is easy to get wrong. These calculators handle leap years, month lengths and time zone offsets for you.
“One wrong day on a deadline can cost more than it seems.”
- Exact days between two dates
- IST to any time zone
- Your age to the day
- Meetings planned across countries
- Working days without weekends
- Leap years counted correctly
- Timesheets added up
- Printable calendars in seconds
Popular Uses for Date Calculators
Most date and time questions come from work, travel or family plans.
- Notice periods Count the exact last working day after giving a sixty or ninety day notice.
- Client calls abroad Find a meeting time that suits people in India, London and California.
- Age for forms Work out exact age in years, months and days for an exam or job form.
- Project deadlines Add business days to a start date and see when the work is really due.
- Weekly timesheets Add up start and finish times, breaks and overtime for a week of shifts.
- Birthday countdowns See how many days are left until a birthday, wedding or exam.
- Printed calendars Make a monthly calendar for the fridge, a notice board or a classroom.
- Timestamps for developers Convert Unix timestamps and ISO 8601 dates into a readable date and time.
What the Timestamp Converter Returns
Seconds or milliseconds
The length of the number decides the unit, so values copied from JavaScript or Java need no editing.
Several date formats
UTC date and time, ISO 8601 with a Z, and a written long form for reports and emails.
Calendar facts
Weekday, day of the year and ISO week number for the moment you entered.
Reverse conversion
Pick a date to get its Unix time in seconds and milliseconds.
Copy on the main value
A copy button on the headline card saves retyping the converted date.

Best Times to Count Days and Hours
Reach for a date tool when you are:
- Serving a notice period

Tips for Epoch Time
-
Results are in UTC. Add 5 hours 30 minutes for India time, or use the time zone converter for other places.
-
If the year comes out as 1970, you probably pasted seconds into something expecting milliseconds, or the other way round.
-
In JavaScript, Date.now() gives milliseconds. Divide by 1000 and round down for a seconds timestamp.
-
Copy only the digits. Quotes, commas or a trailing letter from a JSON file stop the number being read.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about this tool.
How do I convert a Unix timestamp to a normal date?
Paste the number into the box on this page. It is read as seconds if it has up to 10 digits, or milliseconds if longer, and shown as a UTC date and time together with other useful formats.
Is the date shown in my local time?
No, all results are in UTC so they are the same for everyone. To get local time, add your offset, such as 5:30 for India, or feed the UTC time into a time zone converter.
How can I tell if a timestamp is in seconds or milliseconds?
Present-day timestamps in seconds have 10 digits, like 1767225600. Millisecond timestamps have 13, like 1767225600000. This page uses that rule automatically.
What is the year 2038 problem?
Older systems store Unix time in a signed 32-bit integer, which can only count to 2,147,483,647. That limit is reached at 03:14:07 UTC on 19 January 2038, after which such systems may wrap round to 1901.
How do I get the timestamp for a specific date?
Clear the Unix timestamp box, then choose the day in the date picker. You get the Unix seconds and milliseconds for midnight UTC at the start of that date.
Why is my day count off by one?
Some counts include both the start and the end date, and some include only one. That single day is usually the difference. Check which way your office, court or contract counts before relying on a deadline.
Does Unix Timestamp to Date cost anything?
No. There is no sign-up and no limit. Use it on a phone or computer whenever a date question comes up, and the dates you enter are not saved anywhere.
Are leap years counted?
Yes. The calculators use the real calendar, so 29 February is counted in leap years and every month has its correct number of days, including the short ones.
Does Unix Timestamp to Date use my device’s clock?
It reads today’s date and time from your device where it needs them, such as for age or countdowns. If your phone or computer clock is wrong, correct it and the results will follow.
How far is IST from GMT?
India Standard Time is five and a half hours ahead of GMT and UTC, all year round, because India does not change its clocks for summer. Other countries do, so their gap with IST can shift.
