Paraphrasing Tool
Reword, shorten, formalise or simplify a passage.
- Free
- No signup
- Nothing uploaded
- No watermark
The rewritten version appears here as you type.
This edits your sentences using a built-in thesaurus and a set of rewriting rules — it is not a language model, so it will not invent new phrasing or change your meaning. Read the result before you use it; a synonym that fits in general may not fit your sentence.
How to Paraphrase Text Without Changing Its Meaning
Sometimes a paragraph says the right thing in the wrong way: too wordy for a report, too casual for a client, too dense for a newsletter. This paraphraser offers four ways to rework it: Reword, Shorten, More formal and Simpler.
It is honest about how it works. It is not a language model. It edits your own sentences with a built-in thesaurus and a set of rewriting rules, so it will not invent facts or drift away from your meaning. The result updates as you type, with a list of what changed.

What Is a Paraphrasing Tool?
A paraphrasing tool restates text in different words. Many online ones send your writing to an AI model on a server. This one runs rule-based edits in your browser: swapping words for synonyms, removing filler phrases, expanding contractions or breaking up long sentences. Because every change is drawn from your own text, the meaning stays put, but the phrasing will be less inventive than a model's.
Why Use AI Writing Tools on Your Device?
Rewriting an email, summarising notes or drafting a cover letter is quicker with a starting point. These tools use the AI built into supported browsers, so your text is handled on your own device rather than sent away.
“A rough first draft is easier to fix than a blank page.”
- A first draft in moments
- Long text summarised
- No account or API key
- Token costs estimated up front
- Tone changed to suit

What the Paraphraser Can Do

Tips for Clean Paraphrasing
-
Read each swapped word in context. A synonym that is right in general can be wrong in your sentence.
-
Try Shorten first, then Simpler on the result. Cutting padding before splitting sentences gives cleaner text.
-
Use More formal for emails to clients and official letters. It turns 'don't' into 'do not' and lifts casual words.
-
For coursework, paraphrasing still needs a citation. Changing words does not change whose idea it is.
-
Work a paragraph at a time. Short passages are easier to check line by line than a whole essay.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about this tool.
Is this paraphrasing tool AI?
No. It uses a thesaurus and rewriting rules that run in your browser, not a language model. That means it cannot add ideas or facts that were not in your text, and nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
Will the paraphrased text pass plagiarism checks?
Do not rely on it for that. Word swaps leave the sentence structure intact, and plagiarism checkers look at structure as well as words. The honest route is to write the idea in your own words and cite the source.
Does it change the meaning of my text?
It is designed not to. Every edit works on your own sentences, and the only risk is a synonym that fits poorly in context. Read the result and correct any odd word before using it.
Is there a word limit?
There is no fixed limit, since everything runs on your device. Very long documents take a moment longer to update, so a few paragraphs at a time is more comfortable to review.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It works in mobile browsers on Android and iPhone. Paste the text, tap a style and copy the result.
Why do some AI tools say my browser is not supported?
They use the AI model built into some recent browsers, such as newer versions of Chrome on a computer. If your browser does not have it, the page tells you plainly instead of sending your text elsewhere.
Is my text sent to an AI company?
No. When the built-in browser AI is used, your text is processed on your own device. Nothing is passed to ToolXkit or to an outside AI service along the way.
Should I check what Paraphrasing Tool gives me?
Yes, always. AI text can sound confident and still be wrong, miss a detail or change your meaning. Treat it as a first draft, check facts and figures, and make it sound like you.
Is Paraphrasing Tool free, or do I need an API key?
It is free, and there is no API key to enter or account to create. The on-device model belongs to your browser, so there are no per-use charges.
Can I use the result in my work?
Yes. What you create is yours to edit and use. For job applications, college work or published writing, follow the rules of the place you submit to about AI-written content.
