How to Make PowerPoint Slides From a PDF
Someone sends you a PDF of their slides and you need to present it, add a few slides of your own, or put it in a company template. Presenting a PDF full screen works, but a real .pptx is easier to mix with other decks.
This converter makes one slide for each page, sized to match the page exactly, so nothing is stretched or cropped. With Editable text, the words become real text boxes in their own size and colour, placed where they were, over a background that keeps the page’s pictures and shapes. With Picture of each page, every slide is a sharp image of the page, and its words sit invisibly behind it so you can still search the deck.
You choose which pages to include, the resolution and the picture quality. The whole job is done inside your browser, so confidential board papers and client decks never leave your device.

Steps to Make Slides From a PDF
Set a few options, press one button, and open the deck.
-
1. Pick your PDF
Load the PDF whose pages should become slides. Once it opens, the page count appears so you know how many slides you will get.
-
2. Choose how slides are made
Under Slides, pick Editable text for text boxes you can change, or Picture of each page for slides that look exactly like the PDF. To skip pages, type the ones you want in the Pages box, such as 1-3, 7.

3. Choose a resolution
This controls how sharp the pictures on each slide look on a big screen, and how large the file becomes.
Screen (100 dpi)Good (150 dpi)Print (300 dpi)
Which to pick:
- Screen: laptop sharing and email.
- Good: most projectors and TVs. This is the default.
- Print: large screens, fine print, or printing handouts.
-
4. Set the JPG quality
JPG quality can be set anywhere between 40 and 100 percent; 88 is the starting value. Lower values shrink the file; higher values keep small text crisp.
-
5. Press Convert to PowerPoint
A progress bar shows which slide is being built, one page after another. Then the slides are packed into one presentation.
-
6. Open the .pptx
Your presentation is saved with the PDF’s file name. Underneath the tool you will see how many slides it holds and how large the .pptx is.
-
7. Add to it
Insert your own slides, reorder them, add notes, transitions or a title slide. With editable text you can also click into any box and rewrite the words.

What Is PDF to PPTX Conversion?
A .pptx file is a PowerPoint presentation: a set of slides, each holding pictures, text boxes and shapes. A PDF is a set of fixed pages. Converting one to the other means giving each page its own slide.
Editable text rebuilds each block of words as a text box at the same spot and keeps the page’s pictures, shapes and colours as the slide background. Picture of each page places an image of the page on its slide, plus a hidden copy of the text for searching. Neither can bring back the original slide layouts or animations, because a PDF does not record how a slide was put together.

- Use presenter view and notes
- Reorder or hide pages freely
- Rewrite the words right on the slide
- Add transitions and titles
- Combine with slides you already have
- Pages look exactly as designed
- Slide size matches the page size
- Convert private decks without uploading

Editable text boxes

When to Use PDF to PowerPoint
Slides from a PDF make sense when you are:
- Presenting slides that reached you as a PDF
- Combining several speakers’ slides
- Needing speaker notes for someone else’s slides
- Recording a narrated walkthrough
- Teaching from a printed worksheet
- Walking a meeting through a report
- Looping pages on an event screen
- Recovering a lost presentation file
Tips for Sharp Converted Slides
-
Use Good (150 dpi) for most rooms. Print (300 dpi) makes a much larger file and only helps on very big screens.
-
If the deck is too big to email, drop the JPG quality to about 70 before lowering the resolution.
-
Made picture slides and now need to change a word? Convert again with Editable text rather than covering the picture with a new box.
-
Only need a few pages? Type them in the Pages box, such as 2-5, so the deck holds just those slides.
-
Editable text uses fonts from your own computer. If a line looks wider than in the PDF, pick a similar font in PowerPoint or widen its box.
-
Pasting slides into a 16:9 deck? Set the destination deck’s size first so portrait pages are not squeezed.
-
Add a title slide of your own at the start so the deck feels like yours.
-
Run through the deck in slideshow mode once to check the small print is readable from the back.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about this tool.
Can I get a PPT from my PDF free of charge?
Choose your PDF above, pick Editable text or Picture of each page, and press Convert to PowerPoint. A .pptx file with one slide per page downloads to your device. There is no charge, account or watermark.
Is the slide text editable after conversion?
Yes, if you leave Slides on Editable text. Each block of words becomes a text box you can click into and change, in its original size and colour. Picture of each page makes slides whose words cannot be edited, with the text kept invisibly for searching.
Should I pick Editable text or Picture of each page?
Choose Editable text when you need to change or reuse the wording. Choose Picture of each page when the slides must look exactly like the PDF, for example with unusual fonts or a detailed design, and you only plan to present them.
Do fonts and charts survive the conversion?
With Picture of each page, yes: fonts, charts, colours and spacing appear just as in the PDF. With Editable text, charts and shapes stay in the slide background, while the words use fonts on your device, so a rare font may be swapped for a similar one.
Will the deck open in Google Slides or Keynote?
The output is a standard .pptx file. Google Slides can import it, and Keynote and LibreOffice Impress can open it. Text boxes and page pictures show in every one of them.
What happens with a scanned PDF?
Scanned pages become slides like any other page, with the scan as the picture. There is no text to edit or search on them, because a scan has no text layer. Run OCR PDF first if you need the words.
Which resolution should I choose?
Good (150 dpi) suits most projectors and TVs. Screen (100 dpi) keeps the file small for sharing. Print (300 dpi) is for very large screens, fine detail or printing handouts, and makes the biggest file.
Can I make slides from just part of the PDF?
Yes. Write the slide pages you need into the Pages box, for instance 1-3, 7, or 4- to run from page 4 to the last one. With the box left blank, every page turns into a slide.
Is a 200-page PDF too long for this?
No fixed limit. Pages are drawn using your device’s memory, so a very long PDF at print resolution may be slow on a phone. A computer handles large decks more comfortably.
Is my presentation uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened, drawn and packed into the .pptx inside your browser. The file never reaches a server, which makes it safe for confidential material.
Can I make the deck on my phone?
Yes. Pick the document in your phone’s file browser and the .pptx lands in your downloads. Open it in the PowerPoint or Google Slides app to present.
Will PDF to PowerPoint keep my tables and layout?
Text and simple tables usually come across cleanly. Pages with columns, sidebars or heavy design may need some tidying afterwards, because a PDF stores positions on the page rather than a structure. Always glance through the result.
Can a scanned PDF be converted?
A scan is a picture of text, so ordinary conversion finds little to copy. Run the scan through OCR PDF first to add a text layer, or use Scan to Word, then convert as usual.
Can I run PDF to PowerPoint as often as I want?
Yes. There are no daily limits, no credits and no account. Convert as many files as you need, one after another, and nothing is marked or watermarked in the result.
