Save Your .docx as a PDF in the Browser
A PDF opens the same way on every phone and computer, which is why colleges, employers and government offices ask for one. Sending a .docx instead can mean missing fonts, shifted pages, or a reader who has no Word at all.
This converter reads your .docx inside the browser and follows Word’s own formatting as it builds each page: bold and italic, colours and highlights, alignment, indents and spacing, numbered and bulleted lists, tables with their borders and shading, pictures at their set size, and the header and footer. Each Word font is swapped for the closest built-in PDF typeface (a clean sans, a serif or a typewriter style), so a line may wrap a little differently, and a two-column layout comes out as one column.
For Indian users there is good news: Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali and Gujarati text now comes through properly, joined letters and all, and so does the ₹ sign. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is installed, and there is no watermark.

Make a PDF From Word in Six Steps
The settings are optional. The defaults suit most letters, reports and assignments.
-
1. Save your document as .docx
This tool reads the modern Word format, .docx. If your file ends in .doc, open it in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs and save or download it as .docx first.
-
2. Add the Word file
Use Choose file, or pull the .docx from a folder onto the box above. Your browser opens it locally; no copy is sent out.
-
3. Choose the page size
Same as the Word file is picked at the start: it keeps the paper size and margins saved in your document. Choose A4, US Letter or Legal instead and the Orientation and Margin settings appear.

-
4. Keep the header and footer
Include the header and footer is on by default, so a letterhead, logo or footer line from Word repeats on every page. Turn the switch off for bare pages with nothing at the top.
-
5. Keep or drop page numbers
Add page numbers (when the file has no footer) is on by default. If the Word file has a footer of its own, that footer is used and no extra number is added. Turn it off for a one-page letter.
-
6. Press Convert to PDF
The finished PDF keeps your document’s file name, ending in .pdf. Open it and scroll through once, especially if the original had columns or text boxes.
What carries over:
- Bold, italic, underline, colours and highlights
- Numbered and bulleted lists with their indents
- Tables with column widths, borders and shading
- Pictures, header and footer
- Indian scripts, Greek, Cyrillic and ₹

What Is Word to PDF Conversion?
A .docx is an editable file: its look depends on the fonts and the version of the program that opens it. A PDF is a finished page that looks the same everywhere and is hard to change by accident. Converting moves your writing from the first kind of file to the second.
This tool reads the formatting stored inside the .docx, from paragraph spacing and list numbers to table shading and the page margins, and then typesets it on new pages. Letters from Indian scripts are drawn with Noto fonts that are fetched only when the document needs them. Punjabi, Chinese, Japanese and Arabic are not supported yet: those letters appear as "?" and a message tells you so.

Why Send a PDF Instead of Word?
A Word file is a draft that can shift. A PDF is a copy that stays put. When a document leaves your hands, the second is almost always the safer choice.
“Edit in Word, send as PDF.”
- Same look on any screen
- Harder to alter by mistake
- Accepted by most online forms
- Looks more professional
- Opens on phones without Word
- Prints as you expect
- Text stays searchable
- Often smaller to email

- Quotations A shop owner can type a quote in Word, with ₹ amounts in a table, and send a PDF on WhatsApp.
- Study notes Share notes with classmates as a PDF that opens on any phone without an office app.
- Record keeping Store a fixed copy of a signed-off report next to the editable original.

Tips for a Clean Word to PDF Result
-
Leave Page size on Same as the Word file when your paper and margins are already right in Word. Pick A4 only when the reader has asked for it.
-
Newspaper-style columns come out as a single column, and text box contents land below the paragraph that holds them. A table keeps side-by-side content side by side.
-
Insert photos as ordinary pictures. Charts and SmartArt drawn by Word itself may be left out, so paste them in as a picture first.
-
Want plain pages with our own numbers? Switch off Include the header and footer, and Add page numbers takes over at the foot.
-
For Punjabi, Chinese, Japanese or Arabic, use Word’s own Save as PDF for now, since those letters are not drawn yet.
-
Stay online the first time you convert Indian-language text. The script fonts are fetched from this site once; without them those letters fall back to "?".
-
Flip through the finished PDF before sending it, paying attention to tables and pictures near page breaks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about this tool.
How do I convert a Word document to PDF for free?
Choose your .docx on this page, pick the paper size and margin if you like, and tap Convert to PDF. It saves at once, free of charge, with no login and no mark stamped on it.
Will my PDF look exactly like the Word file?
Very close for most files. Colours, spacing, indents, lists, tables, pictures, the header and footer and the paper size all come from the document. Word’s fonts are swapped for the nearest standard face, so a line or page can break slightly differently, and multi-column pages become one column. For a design-heavy file, Word’s own Save as PDF matches more closely.
Does it support Tamil, Hindi and other Indian languages?
Yes. Tamil, Hindi (Devanagari), Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali and Gujarati are drawn with Noto fonts, with vowel signs and conjuncts joined correctly. Greek, Cyrillic and the ₹ sign also work. Punjabi, Chinese, Japanese and Arabic are not supported yet and show as "?".
Why do some letters show as question marks?
Those characters come from a script this converter cannot draw yet, such as Gurmukhi (Punjabi), Chinese, Japanese or Arabic. A message after conversion tells you it happened. It can also occur if the font download was blocked, so try again with a working connection.
Can I convert an old .doc file?
Not directly. This page reads .docx only. Open the .doc in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs, save it as .docx, and then convert that copy here.
Are pictures and tables included?
Yes. Pictures in the document are placed where they appear, at the size set in Word, and only shrunk when wider than the page. Tables keep their column widths, borders and cell shading, and a long table carries on over the next page.
Do numbered lists keep their numbers?
Yes. Lists keep the numbering style chosen in Word, such as 1., a) or i., along with their indents, and bulleted lists keep their markers. Nested levels stay nested.
Is my Word document uploaded anywhere?
No. Reading the .docx and typesetting the PDF both happen inside this browser tab. No server receives your words, which suits CVs, contracts and personal letters.
Can I convert Word to PDF on my phone?
Yes. Load this page in your mobile browser, pick the .docx from Files or from a WhatsApp chat, and tap Convert to PDF. The PDF saves to your phone like any download.
Are headers, footers and page numbers kept?
Yes. Include the header and footer is on by default, so a letterhead, logo or footer text appears on every page, and page number fields in it are filled in. When the file has no footer, the Add page numbers switch prints plain numbers at the foot instead.
Is there a size limit for the Word file?
There is no set cap. Your own device’s memory does the work, so a photo-heavy report converts well on a laptop and just needs more patience on a budget phone.
Can I choose A4 or Letter size?
Yes. The starting choice, Same as the Word file, keeps the size and margins saved in your document. Pick A4, US Letter or Legal to change the paper, then Portrait or Landscape and a margin that suits you.
Can I edit the PDF afterwards?
The PDF is meant as a finished copy. Make changes in Word and convert again, which is quicker than editing a PDF. If you must, the PDF to Word tool gives you an editable version of the text.
Will my formatting stay the same after conversion?
Simple layouts usually come through well, including headings, tables and images. Complex documents with unusual fonts, text boxes or tracked changes may shift slightly, so check the preview or the downloaded PDF before sending it anywhere important.
