How to Convert PDF Pages to PNG
PNG is the format to reach for when a page is mostly text, lines and flat colours: a chart from a report, a diagram from a textbook, a slide, a form, a floor plan. JPG smudges those sharp edges slightly; PNG keeps every pixel exactly as it was drawn.
This converter paints each page you choose onto a canvas at the resolution you set, then saves it as a PNG. Type a list such as 2, 5-8 in Pages, or leave it blank for the full document. You get one PNG for a single page, or a ZIP containing all of them numbered by page.
Everything happens in your browser. The PDF is opened and drawn on your own device, so diagrams from unpublished work or pages from confidential reports never pass through an outside server.

PDF to PNG in Five Easy Steps
There is no quality slider to worry about, because PNG never throws detail away.
-
1. Open the PDF
Choose the file or drop it in. The tool confirms how many pages it found.
-
2. Name the pages
A blank Pages field converts the lot. Otherwise enter numbers and ranges.
Try:
- 2 for a single page
- 2, 5-8 for a mix
- 10- for page ten onwards
-
3. Select a resolution
Pick how detailed the images should be. Each step up roughly doubles or quadruples the file size.
Screen (100 dpi)Good (150 dpi)Print (300 dpi)
-
4. Convert to images
Click Convert to images. A single page arrives as a PNG named with its page number, and a set comes packed in a ZIP.
-
5. Put the PNGs to work
Unzip the folder if there is one, then drop the images into slides, a wiki page or an editor such as Canva or GIMP. Crop away margins there if you only want the chart.

What Is a PNG Image?
PNG, short for Portable Network Graphics, is an image format that compresses without losing anything. Save a PNG, open it again, and every pixel is identical. That is why it is used for screenshots, logos, icons and diagrams, where a single blurred edge is noticeable.
When a PDF page becomes a PNG here, it is drawn at your chosen resolution on a white background, just as the page looks in a viewer. The words become part of the picture, so they cannot be selected. PNG files are bigger than JPG for photos, so for a page that is mainly a photograph, PDF to JPG gives a much smaller file with no visible difference.

Pages that suit PNG
- Charts and graphs
- Diagrams and floor plans
- Slides for another deck
- Text-heavy pages
- Documentation screenshots
- Forms and templates
Why Pick PNG Over JPG?
JPG is built for photographs and quietly softens hard edges. For pages of type and line art, PNG keeps them razor sharp at the cost of a somewhat larger file.

- Crisp, clean lettering
- No compression artefacts
- Good base for editing
- Clean 300 dpi prints
- Fine lines stay fine
- Looks right on projectors
- Ideal for documentation
- Only the pages you pick

Tips for Better PNG Pages
-
For pages that are mostly a photo, use PDF to JPG instead. A photographic PNG can be several times larger for no visible gain.
-
Good (150 dpi) is usually enough for slides and screens. Save Print for paper or close cropping.
-
Name specific pages rather than the whole file. A long PDF at 300 dpi makes a very large ZIP.
-
Want a transparent background? PDF pages are white, so remove the white afterwards in an image editor if needed.
-
Files guarded by an opening password need a trip through Unlock PDF before they can be drawn.
-
Need smaller PNGs for a website? Run them through a PNG compressor after converting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about this tool.
How can I turn PDF pages into PNG files?
Choose the PDF, type the pages you want or leave the box empty for all, pick Screen, Good or Print resolution, then start it with Convert to images. One page yields one PNG; more yield a ZIP.
Is PNG better than JPG for PDF pages?
For text, charts and diagrams, yes: PNG is lossless, so letters and lines stay perfectly sharp. For pages that are mostly photographs, JPG gives much smaller files that look the same, so use PDF to JPG there.
What resolution are the PNG images?
You choose: Screen is about 100 dpi, Good is about 150 dpi and Print is about 300 dpi. An A4 page at Print resolution is roughly 2,500 by 3,500 pixels.
Do the PNGs have a transparent background?
No. A PDF page is white, and the image keeps that white background exactly as a viewer shows it. You can remove the white in an image editor if you need transparency.
Can I convert just one page to PNG?
Yes. Type its number, for example 6, into the Pages box. You receive one PNG file instead of a ZIP.
Why are my PNG files so large?
PNG keeps every pixel, which makes it bigger than JPG, especially at Print resolution or on pages with photos. Choose a lower resolution, convert fewer pages, or use PDF to JPG for photo pages.
Does the PDF go to a server?
No. The pages are drawn and saved as PNG by your browser. At no point does your PDF leave the device, so unpublished work stays private.
Can I select text in the PNG?
No. Words on the page turn into pixels in the image. To get editable text, use PDF to Word, or run OCR on the image later.
Can I make PNGs from a PDF on my mobile?
Yes. Choose the PDF from your phone, tap Convert to images and find the PNG or ZIP in your downloads. The Files app on Android and iPhone can open ZIPs.
Is there a page limit?
There is none. Every page is drawn by your own device, so very long PDFs at high resolution simply take longer and need more memory.
Can I convert a locked PDF to PNG?
Not while it is locked. Run it through Unlock PDF with its password, which you must already have, then return and turn the unlocked copy into PNG images.
Will PDF to PNG keep my tables and layout?
Text and simple tables usually come across cleanly. Pages with columns, sidebars or heavy design may need some tidying afterwards, because a PDF stores positions on the page rather than a structure. Always glance through the result.
Can a scanned PDF be converted?
A scan is a picture of text, so ordinary conversion finds little to copy. Run the scan through OCR PDF first to add a text layer, or use Scan to Word, then convert as usual.
Can I run PDF to PNG as often as I want?
Yes. There are no daily limits, no credits and no account. Convert as many files as you need, one after another, and nothing is marked or watermarked in the result.
