How to Make a QR Code for Free
A QR code lets someone open your website, join your Wi-Fi or save your number just by pointing a phone camera at it. Shops put them on counters, teachers on worksheets, restaurants on tables and businesses on visiting cards and posters.
Choose what the code should do with the buttons along the top: Link, Text, Wi-Fi, Email, Phone, SMS or Contact. Fill in the fields and the code appears beside them as you type. Then adjust the size, the quiet zone, the colours and the error correction, add a logo in the middle if you like, and download a PNG for screens or an SVG for print.
Your device draws the pattern itself, and it holds your details directly, not a redirect link through a tracking service. That is why it never expires, cannot be switched off, and your Wi-Fi password is not sent anywhere.

-
1. Open the QR Code Generator

Tap one of the buttons at the top. Each shows the fields that type needs.
LinkTextWi-FiEmailPhoneSMSContact
-
3. Fill in the details
Type the link, message or contact details. The code appears on the right as soon as the first required field has something in it.
Examples:
- Link: example.com (https:// is added for you)
- Wi-Fi: network name, password, security type
- Contact: name, organisation, phone, email, website
-
4. Adjust the appearance
Under Appearance, set the Size from 128 to 2048 pixels, the Quiet zone around the code, and the Foreground and Background colours. Keep a dark code on a light background so every camera can read it.
-
5. Add a logo if you want
Choose a PNG, JPG, SVG or WEBP under "Logo (optional)". It is placed in the centre and error correction is set to H automatically, so the code still scans.
-
6. Download PNG or SVG
Press Download PNG for WhatsApp, websites and slides, or Download SVG for printing, since SVG stays sharp at any size. Scan it with your own phone before sharing.
What is a QR Code?
A QR code, short for Quick Response code, is a square pattern of black and white modules that stores text. A phone camera reads the pattern and acts on the text inside: opening a web address, offering to join a Wi-Fi network, starting an email or saving a contact.
QR codes include spare information for error correction, so a code can still be read when part of it is dirty, scratched or covered by a logo. Level L can recover about 7% damage, M about 15%, Q about 25% and H about 30%.

Why Use QR Codes?
Typing a long web address or Wi-Fi password on a phone is slow and error-prone. A QR code turns it into a two-second scan, and it works in print, on screens and on product packaging alike.

Tips for QR Codes That Always Scan
-
Keep the code dark and the background light. Light codes on dark backgrounds fail on many phone cameras.
-
Print codes at least 2 to 3 cm wide, and larger when people will scan from a distance, such as on a wall poster.
-
Leave the quiet zone at 2 or more. The blank border is how scanners find the code.
-
Shorter content makes a simpler, easier-to-scan code. Use a short link rather than a very long address.
-
Keep logos simple and small. Always test a code with a logo on two or three different phones.
-
Use Download SVG for print. It stays sharp at any size, while an enlarged PNG may blur.
-
Scan the finished code yourself before printing hundreds of copies.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about this tool.
How do I make a QR code for free?
Choose a type such as Link, type your details, and the code appears straight away. Adjust colours or size if you like, then press Download PNG or Download SVG. Registration, payment and watermarks are never part of it.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. The code contains your link or details directly, not a redirect through our site. It will scan correctly while the destination stays online, even if ToolXkit were to disappear.
Can I generate a UPI payment QR code here?
This page covers links, text, Wi-Fi, email, phone, SMS and contacts. For payments, use our UPI QR Code Generator, which takes your UPI ID, name and an optional amount and makes a code that Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm can scan.
How do I make a QR code for my Wi-Fi?
Choose Wi-Fi, type the network name exactly as it appears on your phone, add the password, and pick the security type (usually WPA/WPA2). Guests scan the code and their phone offers to join the network.
How do I turn a Google Form or website link into a QR code?
Choose Link, paste the address of the form or page, and download the code. If you type an address without https://, it is added for you so phones open it correctly.
Can I add my logo to the QR code?
Yes. Choose an image under "Logo (optional)". It is placed in the centre at about a fifth of the width, and error correction switches to H so the code can still be read. Test it on a few phones before printing.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG suits WhatsApp, websites, documents and slides. SVG is best for printing, especially large items like banners and standees, because it is made of shapes rather than pixels and never goes blurry.
Why will my QR code not scan?
Common causes are light colours on a dark background, too little contrast, a missing border, or a code printed too small. Use a dark foreground on white, keep the quiet zone at 2 or more, and print it larger.
Can I use these QR codes for business and printing?
Yes. The codes are yours to use on packaging, menus, adverts and visiting cards, commercially or not, with no attribution and no fee.
Is my information stored or tracked?
No. Your browser builds the code, and what you type, Wi-Fi passwords included, stays off our servers. Because it is not a redirect code, scans are not counted or logged anywhere.
Can I change the link after printing the code?
No. The link is stored in the pattern itself, so a new link needs a new code. If you expect changes, point the code at a page you control and update that page instead.
What does error correction mean?
It is spare data that lets a damaged code still scan. L recovers about 7%, M about 15%, Q about 25% and H about 30%. Higher levels make a denser pattern, so M is a good everyday choice.
Can a QR code save my contact details to someone’s phone?
Yes. Choose Contact and fill in the name plus any of organisation, job title, phone, email and website. Scanning it offers to save you as a new contact in the phone.
Is my text sent anywhere when I use QR Code Generator?
No. The text you paste is handled in your browser and never leaves the page. That makes it safe for drafts, customer lists and anything else you would rather keep to yourself.
