A neural network (ESRGAN) redraws the detail rather than stretching pixels. Runs on your device; the engine loads once and is cached. Photos larger than 1600px on the long side are brought to that size first.

How to Use the AI Image Upscaler Online

AI Image Upscaler: before and after PNG A BEFORE AI IMAGEUPSCALER PNG A AFTER

Enlarges a photo with a neural network rather than interpolation. Ordinary resizing can only stretch the pixels it has, which is why an enlarged image looks soft; an ESRGAN network has learned what edges, hair, brick and foliage look like and redraws them at the larger size, so a 2×, 3× or 4× result keeps its detail. Everything runs on your own device through the browser: the engine and model weights load once and are cached, the photo itself is never uploaded, and a before/after slider shows exactly what changed. Because the work grows with every pixel, images are limited to 1600 px on the longest side before enlarging — plenty for web images, old photos and thumbnails, which is what this is for. Photographs gain the most; flat logos and screenshots are usually better served by the plain Resize tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about this tool.

How is this different from just resizing?

Resizing stretches the pixels that exist, so edges blur and textures smear. This runs a neural network (ESRGAN) that has learned what sharp detail looks like and redraws it at the larger size — text edges stay crisp, fabric and foliage regain texture. Drag the slider to compare the two.

Does the photo get uploaded?

No. The network runs on your own graphics chip through the browser. The engine and its weights are downloaded once (a few megabytes) and cached; your photo never leaves the tab.

Why is there a size limit?

The work grows with every pixel, and a 4× result of a large photo is enormous. Images longer than 1600 px on a side are brought to that size first, then enlarged — the result is still much bigger than the original. For very large prints, upscale a crop.

Which scale should I pick?

2× for a photo that is slightly too small, 4× for a thumbnail or an old low-resolution picture. The network is trained on photographs; logos and screenshots come out cleaner with the plain Resize tool.

Does AI Image Upscaler reduce my photo’s quality?

Converting and cropping keep quality close to the original. Compressing trades a little detail for a much smaller file, and a lighter setting keeps more of it. Compare the preview with your original before saving.

Will my photo be accepted by the exam form?

The exam photo tools follow the size, dimensions and file weight given in the official notice. Always read the latest notice too, because boards sometimes change their rules between years.

Can I edit pictures with AI Image Upscaler straight from my gallery?

Yes. Pick a photo from your gallery or take one with the camera, then save the result back to your phone. Everything works in the browser, so there is no app to install.

Is AI Image Upscaler free with no watermark?

Yes. Use it for as many pictures as you need without an account, and each image comes back without any logo or mark from the site.
