How to Resize & Crop Video Online
Pick a platform preset, a ratio, or type a width and height. Presets give the exact pixel size each platform wants: 1080×1920 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, 1080×1080 or 1080×1350 for Instagram, 1920×1080 for YouTube. When the clip is a different shape, you choose crop to fill, fit with bars over a blurred copy of the footage, or stretch, and a preview shows exactly which edges go before you encode.
Reframes a clip to a platform’s exact size — 1080×1920 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, 1080×1080 or 1080×1350 for Instagram, 1920×1080 for YouTube — or to any width and height you type. A landscape clip going vertical has to lose most of its width, so the preview shows precisely which edges the crop cuts before you encode; where nothing can be lost, “fit with bars” keeps every pixel over a blurred copy of the footage, which reads as intentional where black bars read as a mistake.

Tips and Good to Know
-
A preset is a promise about the output, so a 720p clip asked for 1080×1920 is upscaled and looks soft. Use a ratio instead to keep native resolution.
-
Crop loses the edges. For a talking head off-centre, check the preview; a crop that cuts the face is worse than bars.
-
Stretch distorts faces. It is only right for a screen recording that is a couple of pixels off a preset.
-
It does not trim. Shorten the clip with Trim Video first if the platform also has a length cap.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about this tool.
How do I resize a video for Instagram Reels or TikTok?
Choose the Reels / TikTok / Shorts preset. That sets 1080×1920, and the preview shows exactly what the 9:16 frame keeps. Landscape footage is either cropped to fill or fitted with blurred bars — pick whichever suits the shot.
Will a small video be upscaled to the preset size?
Yes, when you pick a preset or type a size — the file that comes out is the size you asked for, because that is what the platform’s uploader checks. If you only want it smaller, use the ratio options instead, which never upscale.
What is the difference between crop, fit and stretch?
Crop fills the frame and loses the edges — right for a talking head. Fit keeps every pixel and fills the empty space with a blurred copy of the video, black or white — right for footage where nothing can be lost. Stretch distorts the picture to fill; it is only for something that is a few pixels off.
Does the audio stay?
Not yet — the resized file is video only. Use Video to MP3 to save the sound separately if you need it.
Is there a limit on video length or size?
The site sets no limit. Video processing happens on your own device, so long or high-resolution clips need more memory and time. Short phone clips are quick, while hour-long 4K files are better handled on a computer.
Does Resize & Crop Video upload my video?
No. Your clip is processed in the browser and the result downloads to your device. Home videos and work recordings are never sent to a server.
Why is Resize & Crop Video slower than a desktop editor?
Video work is heavy, and here it runs inside a browser tab using your device’s own processor. That keeps the footage private, but it can take longer than installed software. Keep the tab open until it finishes.
Will the quality drop after compression?
Some detail is lost when a video is made much smaller. Moderate compression is hard to notice on a phone screen, while very small targets make fast motion look blocky. Try a setting and watch the result before sharing.
Can I turn a landscape clip into a vertical Reel?
Yes. Reels & Shorts Maker and Resize & Crop Video crop a wide clip to the tall 9:16 shape that Reels, Shorts and status updates use. Download the vertical version and it is ready to post.
