How to Convert Currency to Words Online

Currency to Words: before and after CURRE A INPUT CURRENCY TOWORDS WORDS A RESULT

Currency to Words writes an amount as a sentence with the currency named and the subunit spelt correctly: pence for pounds, cents for dollars and euros, paise for rupees. A generic number-to-words converter gets the subunit wrong or leaves it as a decimal, which reads badly on an invoice, a contract or a receipt. Choose British or American phrasing and copy either the plain sentence or the cheque form.

Writes pounds, dollars, euros or rupees out in full, with the subunit handled correctly for each. The subunit name differs — pence, cents, paise — and so does whether it is written in words or as a fraction, which is why a generic number-to-words tool produces something that reads wrong on a financial document.

Tips and Good to Know

  1. Eleven currencies are built in. For yen, francs or dirhams, write the number with Number to Words and add the currency name yourself.

  2. Lakh and crore appear when you pick an Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, Sri Lankan or Bhutanese currency; the rest use millions.

  3. It does not convert between currencies. The amount you type is the amount you get, in words.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about this tool.

Do I capitalise the currency name?

Not in running text — pounds, dollars, euros and rupees are common nouns. On a cheque or a formal instrument, house style frequently capitalises the whole amount line, which is a convention of the document rather than a rule of grammar.

Where does the currency name go?

Usually before the amount in English — "Rupees twelve thousand five hundred only" on an Indian cheque — while running prose puts it after: "twelve thousand five hundred rupees". Financial instruments follow the first pattern.

Is my text sent anywhere when I use Currency to Words?

No. The text you paste is handled in your browser and never leaves the page. That makes it safe for drafts, customer lists and anything else you would rather keep to yourself.

Is there a limit on how much text I can paste?

The site sets none. Long documents are handled by your own device, so a whole book may be slow on an older phone. Articles, essays and long lists are no trouble.

Can I use Currency to Words without making an account?

Yes. There is no login, no email to hand over and no daily limit. Open the page, paste or type, and copy or download the result when it is ready.

Why does my word count differ from Microsoft Word?

Programs treat hyphenated words, numbers and symbols a little differently. The gap is usually a few words in a long piece. If a teacher or portal sets a limit, stay a little under it to be safe.

Do the QR codes made here expire?

No. The information is stored directly in the pattern, with no redirect through our servers, so the code keeps working for as long as the link or text inside it stays valid.
