  1. Matching is case-sensitive. "Chennai" will not match "chennai"; to catch both, turn on regular expressions and use a pattern like [Cc]hennai.

  2. To replace a word only when it stands alone, use the regex option and wrap it in \b, as in \bcat\b, so "category" is left alone. There is no separate whole-word tick.

  3. $1-style backreferences are not expanded in the replacement; what you type is what goes in.

  4. For a .docx or a PDF, extract the text first; this tool works on plain text only.

Is my text sent anywhere when I use Find and Replace?

Is there a limit on how much text I can paste?
