How to Merge Videos Into One File Online

Merge Videos: before and after MP4 A BEFORE MERGE VIDEOS MP4 A AFTER

Holiday clips from three phones, a lecture recorded in parts, a product demo filmed in several takes. Joining them used to mean installing an editor. Here you add the clips, put them in order, trim each one to the part you want, and press 'Merge clips'.

The sound comes along too, lined up with each clip. If one clip is silent, silence of the same length is added so the later clips stay in sync. Everything is encoded inside your browser, so your videos are never uploaded.

Steps to Join Video Clips

  1. 1. Add two or more clips

Drop MP4, MOV, M4V or WebM files onto the box, or click to choose them. You need at least two to merge.

  2. 2. Put them in order

Use the up and down arrows in the file list to arrange the clips. They are joined from top to bottom.

  3. 3. Trim any clip

Select a clip under Clips and set where it starts and ends. 'Reset trim' brings back the whole clip. The joined length updates as you go.

  4. 4. Choose the format and merge

Pick MP4 to play everywhere or WebM for a smaller file, then press 'Merge clips' and download the result.

What Does a Video Merger Do?

It plays the clips one after another into a single new file. This one decodes each clip with your browser's WebCodecs video engine, draws the frames in order and encodes a fresh video with the joined soundtrack. The first clip sets the frame size; a clip of a different shape is fitted inside it, centred, with black bars rather than stretched.

It needs a browser with WebCodecs, which recent Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox have. How long a video it can handle depends on your device's memory.

Why Use Video Tools in Your Browser?

Phone videos are large, and every app has its own rules for length, shape and format. Trimming, compressing, converting and resizing clips here gets them ready to post or send without uploading your footage to a stranger’s server.

“A shorter, smaller clip is far more likely to get watched.”
  • Clips that fit upload limits
  • GIFs from short moments
  • Subtitles converted and shifted
  • Screen recordings without software
  • Vertical videos for Reels
  • Sound pulled out as MP3
  • Only the scenes you want
  • Footage kept on your device

Popular Uses for Video Converters

These are the video jobs people come back for again and again.

  • Reels and Shorts Crop a landscape clip into a vertical video for Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts.
  • WhatsApp status Cut a long video into short parts that fit a WhatsApp status.
  • Email and chat limits Compress an MP4 so it can be sent without a file-too-large error.
  • Reaction GIFs Turn a funny moment from a clip into a GIF to share in chats.
  • Audio from video Save the soundtrack or speech from a video as an MP3 file.
  • Tutorial recordings Record your screen to show a colleague how to do a task.
  • Subtitle fixes Convert SRT to VTT or shift subtitle timing when words arrive too early.
  • Playback problems Convert MOV, MKV or AVI files to MP4 so they play on any phone or TV.

What the Video Joiner Handles

Trim per clip

Each clip keeps its own start and end points, even after you move it up or down the list.

Sound kept in sync

Audio from every clip is joined at the same offsets as the pictures, with silence filling in for clips that have none.

Mixed shapes handled

A portrait clip after a landscape one is letterboxed with black bars, not squashed.

No upload, no watermark

The joined file is encoded locally and carries no logo or branding.

  • Sending a clip over email

Tips for Smooth Video Merging

  1. Put the clip with the shape you want first. Its width and height become the size of the finished video.

  2. Trim shaky starts and the moment you reach for the stop button. Clean joins look far more professional.

  3. Use a computer for long or high-resolution clips. Phones have less memory for decoding several videos.

  4. Choose MP4 for WhatsApp, Instagram and older TVs. WebM is smaller but not every phone gallery plays it.

  5. Keep the tab open and in front while it works. Some browsers slow down background tabs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about this tool.

Can I merge videos on my phone?

Yes, in a recent mobile browser that supports WebCodecs, for example Android Chrome, or Safari on an up-to-date iPhone. Short clips work best, since phones have less memory than computers.

Will merging videos lower the quality?

The clips are re-encoded into a new file, so there is some loss, as with any editor that exports. At normal settings it is hard to notice for phone and camera footage.

Can I merge videos of different sizes or orientations?

Yes. The first clip decides the frame size, and any clip with a different shape is scaled to fit inside it with black bars. Nothing is stretched or cropped.

Does the merged video keep the sound?

Yes. The audio of each clip is joined in the same order and trimmed to the same points. If a clip has no sound, silence fills its length so the rest stays in sync.

Do my videos leave my computer?

No. Decoding, joining and encoding all happen in your browser. Private family videos or work recordings never leave your device.

Is there a limit on video length or size?

The site sets no limit. Video processing happens on your own device, so long or high-resolution clips need more memory and time. Short phone clips are quick, while hour-long 4K files are better handled on a computer.

Does Merge Videos upload my video?

No. Your clip is processed in the browser and the result downloads to your device. Home videos and work recordings are never sent to a server.

Why is Merge Videos slower than a desktop editor?

Video work is heavy, and here it runs inside a browser tab using your device’s own processor. That keeps the footage private, but it can take longer than installed software. Keep the tab open until it finishes.

Will the quality drop after compression?

Some detail is lost when a video is made much smaller. Moderate compression is hard to notice on a phone screen, while very small targets make fast motion look blocky. Try a setting and watch the result before sharing.

Can I turn a landscape clip into a vertical Reel?

Yes. Reels & Shorts Maker and Resize & Crop Video crop a wide clip to the tall 9:16 shape that Reels, Shorts and status updates use. Download the vertical version and it is ready to post.
