How to Use the Typing Speed Test Online

Typing Speed Test: before and after DATA A YOUR INPUT TYPING SPEEDTEST DONE A RESULT

A typing test rather than a calculator: pick one, three or five minutes, click the passage and type straight onto it. Each word is judged as you go — green when it matches, red and struck through when it does not, the current word underlined — and the clock starts on your first key, so there is nothing to set up. At the end you get net words per minute, accuracy and the number of words you got wrong, worked out the standard way (five characters to a word, one word deducted per error) so the figure is comparable with the tests employers and typing courses use. Passages are ordinary English prose with normal punctuation, because that is what real typing looks like; pasting is blocked, and a word can be fixed until the space is pressed. The last few attempts stay on the page so improvement is visible within a session. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about this tool.

How is words per minute worked out?

The standard way: every five characters you type, including spaces, count as one word, and each word you got wrong takes one off. Divide by the minutes used and that is your net WPM — the figure typing tests and job listings mean.

What counts as a mistake?

A word that does not match the passage when you press the space after it. You can backspace and fix a word before the space and it will not count; once you move on, it stays red and is deducted.

What is a good typing speed?

The average adult types about 40 WPM. 50–60 is comfortable for office work, 60–80 is fast, and professional typists and transcribers sit around 75–80 or more with accuracy close to 100%. Accuracy matters more than speed at first: fixing errors costs more time than typing slowly.

Is anything sent anywhere?

No. The passage, your typing and your results stay in the browser; the last few attempts are kept on the page only until you leave it.

How accurate is Typing Speed Test?

It uses the standard formula for the calculation, so the maths is exact for the numbers you enter. For loans, tax and investments, treat the answer as a close estimate and confirm the final figure with your bank or adviser.

Does Typing Speed Test save the numbers I enter?

No. Your figures are worked out in the browser and are not sent to any server or stored in an account. Salary, loan and health details stay on your device.

Are the income tax calculators up to date?

They are built on the slabs published by the Income Tax Department for the year shown on each page. Rules change with each Budget, so confirm the figures on the official portal before you file.

Can I rely on these calculators for health decisions?

They are good for a quick check, such as BMI or daily calories. They are not a medical diagnosis, so talk to a doctor before changing medicine, diet or treatment based on a result.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Every calculator runs in the browser on your phone or computer, with no download and no sign-up. Bookmark the page if you use it often.
