Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about this tool.

Which deductions can I claim under the old regime?

The main ones are 80C up to ₹1.5 lakh covering EPF, PPF, ELSS, life insurance and tuition fees; 80D for health insurance; HRA where you pay rent; home loan interest under section 24; and the standard deduction. The old regime is only worth choosing if you genuinely claim a substantial total.

Do I need proof for what I claim?

Yes. Payroll asks for investment proofs before the year ends, and the department can ask later. A deduction claimed without documentation is the kind of thing that surfaces years afterwards with interest attached.

How accurate is Old Tax Regime Calculator?

It uses the standard formula for the calculation, so the maths is exact for the numbers you enter. For loans, tax and investments, treat the answer as a close estimate and confirm the final figure with your bank or adviser.

Does Old Tax Regime Calculator save the numbers I enter?

No. Your figures are worked out in the browser and are not sent to any server or stored in an account. Salary, loan and health details stay on your device.

Are the income tax calculators up to date?

They are built on the slabs published by the Income Tax Department for the year shown on each page. Rules change with each Budget, so confirm the figures on the official portal before you file.

Can I rely on these calculators for health decisions?

They are good for a quick check, such as BMI or daily calories. They are not a medical diagnosis, so talk to a doctor before changing medicine, diet or treatment based on a result.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Every calculator runs in the browser on your phone or computer, with no download and no sign-up. Bookmark the page if you use it often.
