Tips and Good to Know

  1. The HTML FAQ on the UPSC site still says 350 × 350 minimum for the photo. The 600 × 600 default passes both versions.

  2. One signature is not enough. Sign three times on white paper, one below the other, and photograph all three together.

  3. The photo ID document is a PDF of 20–300 KB. Use Compress PDF for that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about this tool.

Why does UPSC want the signature three times?

The OTR rules ask for three signatures, one below the other, in black ink on white paper, in a single image.

What pixel size is the UPSC photo?

Square, at least 550 × 550 and at most 1000 × 1000 pixels according to the OTR FAQ PDF. This page uses 600 × 600.

Is the live photo the same as the uploaded one?

No. The form also takes a live photo and compares it with the upload, so use a recent photo that looks like you today.

Does UPSC Photo and Signature Resize reduce my photo’s quality?

Converting and cropping keep quality close to the original. Compressing trades a little detail for a much smaller file, and a lighter setting keeps more of it. Compare the preview with your original before saving.

Will my photo be accepted by the exam form?

The exam photo tools follow the size, dimensions and file weight given in the official notice. Always read the latest notice too, because boards sometimes change their rules between years.

Can I edit pictures with UPSC Photo and Signature Resize straight from my gallery?

Yes. Pick a photo from your gallery or take one with the camera, then save the result back to your phone. Everything works in the browser, so there is no app to install.

Is UPSC Photo and Signature Resize free with no watermark?

Yes. Use it for as many pictures as you need without an account, and each image comes back without any logo or mark from the site.
