What is inside

  • A # title and an intro paragraph with a link to toolxkit.com
  • One ## section per employee: 50 in the 10 KB file, 4,979 in the 1 MB file, 122,098 in the 25 MB file
  • Bold role, italic city, and a three-item bullet list in every section
  • A two-column pipe table in every section, with the email in inline code
  • UTF-8 text with em dashes and accented names
  • Exact to the byte: the gap at the end is an HTML comment, which renders as nothing

About Markdown files

Markdown is plain text with a few symbols for formatting: # for a heading, * for emphasis, - for a list item, backticks for code. It was made to be easy to read before it is rendered, which is why README files, wikis and notes apps use it.

You meet .md files in GitHub and GitLab repos, documentation sites, static site generators and note apps such as Obsidian. They are often turned into HTML, PDF or Word, and that conversion is where they are usually tested.

Markdown has more than one dialect. The base rules come from CommonMark, but tables are an extension from GitHub Flavored Markdown, so a strict CommonMark tool shows a table as lines of pipes and dashes. If your tables look broken, check which dialect the tool follows before you edit the file.

Questions

Why does the end of the .md file hold an empty HTML comment?

It pads the file to the exact byte count. Markdown passes HTML comments through and browsers do not show them, so the rendered page looks the same with or without it.

Will the tables show on GitHub?

Yes. They use the pipe-table syntax that GitHub Flavored Markdown supports. A tool that follows only strict CommonMark will show them as plain text.

Can I use these Markdown files in my own docs or product?

Yes, for any purpose. They are generated by this site's own script, hold no third-party text, and are released as public domain (CC0).

For developers: exact bytes and SHA-256

Sizes are decimal (1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes). The hosted files never change between builds, so these checksums stay valid.
